    Default Flavor Wave Oven

    Got a regular Flavor Wave Turbo in the mail today.
    I will let you guys know how it does. I have a Nuwave I have had for about a year or so that I love. Thankfully it has not cracked out yet and the motor is still working. I was really afraid after I got the Nuwave of it cracking out once I started reading reviews but I have been super careful with this one. I never use that thing they come with to hold the top when you take it off. It just looks to me like it could cause a crack on its own. I remove the top and sit it level on one of my cutting boards. I try and never use it for hours on end without it cooling down because of it being made of plastic. I use mine mainly for roasting chickens and other smaller items that take about an hour or two. It is great for fixing bacon in.
    I used some BD money to order the Flavor Wave. The bowl on this one is made of heavy glass instead of plastic. The top with the motor and the controls is made of plastic just like the nuwave. I never use mine to make frozen meats in. I always marinade that sort of thing to add flavor so the opportunity to try it on frozen meat has never come up. I have noticed when researching the two that the cooking times on the FW are a little longer than the Nuwave.

    Well I never got the cooking guide with the temps and times for cooking different foods with the oven. I had to get online and find it and download before I could try the oven.
    I decided to try a three pound sirloin roast in it this evening. I rubbed the outside of the meat with minced parsley, thyme, rosemary, garlic, salt and pepper. Then I browned it in a skillet before popping it into the Flavor Wave. I baked it at 400 for 20 min per pound. I checked the meat about 12 minutes before the time was up because it looked done and it was. It did a good job. Just gonna take some getting used to when it comes to getting the cooking time right without over cooking.

    Is the idea behind these ovens to save electricity? I guess they will not heat up the house as bad as a conventional oven does? If so that is a big plus++++

    For me I like the speed aspect of these ovens and the size. It is nice not to have to heat up the kitchen to use the oven. Our electric is included with the rent so that was never an issue for me.

    Lol, soumds like a modern version of the Easy Bake Oven. I laugh everytime I see the one with a turntable and a heat source in the top of the lid for baking a pizza. I was thinking a 500 watt halogen lite bulb.

    Well I never had an easy bake oven so I cannot say.
    To each their own. I find one comes in handy for me.
    The intake for the AC is right across from the stove in this apartment so I appreciate being able to bake in these little countertop convection ovens.
