Speaking of which, are any of you as addicted to walmart cheese as I am? Ya know, the stuff in the black package. That stuff is awesome. Melts better than ANY cheese I've ever used.
I get the Wal-Mart cheese on my WIC and I have to agree, it melts better than any name brand I've had.

I make the plain, old boring grilled cheese sandwiches. I use 2 slices of cheese though. I make the boring ones because I dip mine in tomato soup. Which actually sounds kinda good since it's overcast and rainy today.

I use four slices of cheese, two very small slices on each piece of bread. I also throw in some butter, can't have a good grilled cheese without butter.

kaabi - i thought the same -- until i tried the olive oil... man does it make a difference....

and as far as dipping it in tomato soup, the oil works great cuz it makes it less soggy after being dipped

I love sliced tomatoes in my grilled cheese sandwiches; I use spray oil (Pam, etc.) or my cast iron skillet.

I have never tried the olive oil, but I do love the taste of it in most everything else, so this might be worth a try.

I can't wait till it's cold enough to have grilled cheese and soup all the time. Of course it tastes good anytime but it's especially good on a cold day.

That's true TexasRose... There have been mornings here that have been cool enough to want to turn the heater on, but we never do because the cool weather lasts only about an hour. Then it starts to warm up. I can't believe less than a month ago everyday hit 100+ degrees by noon.

Some hot ham adds to a grilled cheese. I don't think the butter would be so bad as long as you're not eating grilled cheese every day and not using gobs of butter. A little butter for taste along with some nice sharp Cheddar cheese and a lean piece of DAK ham, on whole wheat toast, of course. The tomato sounds good too!

Mmmmm, hot ham and cheese sandwiches are good. I've never had tomatoes on them before, but I love tomatoes so I may just try that the next time I get some.

Yeah, I'm hungry now and I'm supposed to be going to bed--will definitely try some of these ideas esp. the olive oil. Ciao!
