How do you do the tomato on the sandwich? Just put it in while you're cooking it? wouldn't that make the tomato hot and ... well..... yucky???
I can't see pulling a grilled cheese apart, so it must have to be cooked in there.

When I first moved out of home as a teenager I didnt have much money in my food budget. I used to make grilled cheese sandwiches with sour cream and sweet chilli sauce. They were cheap to make and still to this day I make them sometimes. They are yummy!

I really like to put pepperoni in between the grill cheese. If there is no pepperoni I will put ham and mustard. Now is a really good time to have grilled cheese with soup. What a nice way to warm up.

There is a restaurant somewhere in the USA that makes about a billion different combinations of grilled cheese sandwiches. For the life of me I can't remember the name of it or where it is located. I saw it on the Food Network. My hubby and I like pepper jack cheese and american cheese with buttered whole wheat made in the cast iron or the george forman.

I'm sooo glad I stumbled across this thread! I make grilled cheese at least once a week and we need to pep it up a little I wonder if I used olive oil and a bit of my bread dipping oil seasonings...hmmm...

The way I make my grilled cheese is buttered on both sides of sandwhich...Then as the sandwhich is cooking, I take a potato masher..that you use for mashing potatoes, and push down on the sandwhich which makes the cheese melt faster..YUM
