Default The Passing of the Season...

One of my favorite times of year is nearly behind us. The fresh bounty
of summer will soon be gone. As the last of the August roasting ears
make their way to farmer's markets- and what will soon be those final
remaining sweet red 'maters are picked from the vine, we realize that
summer is fast flying by. During these few weeks as summer evolves into
early fall- what tastes are you excited to have on your table? What
October and November bounty have you been waiting for all year long?

Oh how I love the fall of the year and the beauty of it all. No painter - no matter how great he/she is can capture the beauty of what God has given us during the fall months!

The comfort foods, the coziness of the warmth of the house with the aroma of fresh baked homemade goodies coming from the oven; the last of the pckling, canning, drying and preserving. Filling the pantry.

Preparing for the holidays with making homemade mixes; starting to plan holiday recipes.

The apple, pear and pumpkin baked goods, homemade donuts and homemade apple cider.

The rustle of the dried leaves as you walk. (and the raking you have to do!)

I love the early sunsets, the October skies, Harvest moon.

Soups, stews, roasts, homemade breads, cakes, pies, cookies - it's that time of the year again!

Nice, mama... I feel like I just stepped into a scene crafted by Thomas Kinkaid or Norman Rockwell! Tho, as you remark- their paint and brush don't do the beauty near the proper justice.

Love the Avatar Kevin! And yes you & Mama have me looking forward to Fall, but NOT YET I am not ready to have summer and the warmth and the mosquitos behind us just yet! I love summer best and am more alive then, get outdoors more and just love it! Yet the very best thing about the Fall besides the changing of the leaves is my all time favorite holiday - Thanksgiving!
