Default How Do You Like Your Mac & Cheese?

I LOVE mac and cheese! I was watching an episode of Everyday Italian and she put all kinds of veggies and tomatoes in her mac and cheese. She didnt make a cheese sauce she just mixed in three kinds of cheese after she put the pasta and veggies in a mixing bowl. She put breadcrumbs and parm cheese on the bottom and her pasta mixture over that and then topped it with the rest of the breadcrumbs and parm mixture. She dotted it with butter and baked it til it was golden brown.
Now...I thought it looked like one big mess. Bleh!
My favorite recipe for mac and cheese is from Screen Doors and Sweet Tea. It is divine lol. When I have mac and cheese I want to be able to taste my mac and cheese. I dont want extra veggies and other junk thrown in there and I much prefer a cheese sauce instead of mixing the cheese the way she did. The recipe from Screen Doors has a touch of mustard powder and a little garlic that I love. My favorite recipe calls for just cheddar and parm but I thrown in some Velvetta to make it extra creamy. We usually have baked mac and cheese once a week. I love to make it in these cozy little ramikens.

How do you like your mac and cheese?

oooo mac and cheese! Well firstly I like mine with gluten free noodles but beyond that I'll take it almost any way I can get it. I don't thing vegetables in it would deter me from gobbling it up. When I make mine I normally start with a bechamel then add shredded cheese, what ever combination I have on hand then a dash of hot sauce and a clove of garlic. Mix the sauce with cooked pasta, top with parm and bake till bubbly. I don't make it that often. Usually only when I have some cheese to use up.

I love pasta and I love cheese - and adding extras is fine with me - not too much - it takes away from the dish. But an easy add-in is diced cooked ham! To me that compliments the dish without taking away from it.

I like my mac-cheese with a home-made white sauce, made with flour and milk, sharp cheddar cheese, with bacon bits, sprinkle top with paprika. Cookie

I have tossed a little crumbled bacon into our mac anc cheese before. It is yummy. I love a combo of extra sharp cheddar and velveeta.

Mac & Cheese is one of my FAVS, janie! I make it many ways- depending on what I have on hand. Often I'll melt several cheeses into a bechamel and blend all with the cooked pasta. I've even used canned condensed cream soups... Many times I'll just use heavy whipping cream and shredded cheeses. I like sometimes adding chopped ham, bacon or tomatoes as others have mentioned, as well. Also kippered, or hot-smoked salmon chunked-up is yummy too.

We grew up having mac & cheese (often from the blue box!) and salmon patties every Friday night in our household. My sister carries on that tradition with her family today.
