Rick your philosophy on cooking is absolutely precise and I could not agree with you more!

Mama your remarks on cleanliness are on-target!

I really don't have a bad side - but face it - what would you have done? Let it go and not say anything or bring it to their attention.

These big stores should not have a bakery case or a meat or deli case near the produce section for that exact reason!

and all these bigwigs can't figure it out and they make the big bucks!

I don't go around with the big "M" on my chest like superman - but dang nab it - it's not right what goes on behind the scenes.

Would they eat it? would they bring it home to their families?

where the heck is there so called quality control people???

it's just not right what they do to the unsuspecting customer......

I only get bad when I have to......then I had to.

Wow- mama! FUNNY story! And I'm w/ ya... some folks are just totally clueless- and sadly, often it's the folks who really can't afford to be clueless.

Kevin - if you or I or any of us here opened up a mom and pop store and we baked fresh goods, we would have the board of health, the FBI, the CIA, the KBG, all the new Czars, NASA, NATO, The WHO, The FDIC, OPEC and the ATF crawling all over the place looking for one little thing to fine us or close us down. They'd even play Dr. Procto on us - bend over : ( !

But these big companies and big stores that have the deep pockets can pay anyone off for anything and when it comes to foods being sold to the public - I'm a witch.

Why should we eat diseased foods and food products because the stores are too stupid to see what is going on, or they turn the other cheek. It's their fault, they are the cause and they don't want to waste anything because it cuts into their huge profits. I don't believe in "they will eat it anyway" in any way shape or form. We are human beings, many are elderly and sick, many have compromised immune systems, and not everyone can fight off whatever they can catch - and we shouldn't have to worry about it in this day and age.

    Money talks - unfortunately............

Being from the south my granny's kitchen was full of fresh veggies she canned herself. There are a couple things she made that we loved. Peanut Brittle, Friend squash, Chicken N Dumplings, Persimmon Pudding just to name a few. She was soo famous for her Peanut Brittle when she passed away the funeral home brought in Peanut brittle for the guests at the viewing. I loved her cookin' . =) Good Memories.

    Hey ButtahP!!!

That is such a sweet memory, I loved reading that! Your grandmother had to have been very special. I miss my own Nanny very much, she was a heck of a great cook!!! She could cook wonderful things on a shoe-string budget, I would have to say her Banana Fritters were outta-this-world indeed!

I am glad to have you here at SpicePlace ButtahP, I hope you will like it and stay with us!

    Cheers, CCCathy
