    Hi kwinem!

Welcome! We here always enjoy meeting new folks and making new friends. I think you'll find we're a fine groupa folks- fun, knowledgable and enjoyable to "be around". C'mon in, help yourself to the virtual pot of coffee- and make yourself at home! smiles- Kevin (chubbyalaskagriz)

    My Favorite knife,
My Grandfather gave me my pocket knife and it has been in my pocket almost every day since. I have carved with it, cleaned fish with it, dug out millions of splinters with it, I have cut everything imaginable with it, It's my favorite potato peeler and pencil sharpener. I can go on forever regarding all it's been through with me. It's not a chef's knife or a cleaver but it's been with me now for 40 years and it is my favorite knife.

My most versatile knife that I forgot about until I picked it up this morning to use is my ULU. If you have never used one I highly recommend to get one and if you do a lot of herbs chopping, get the cutting board. The ULU comes from Alaska.

Thanks Chubs, I appreciate that! This is definitely a different platform and atmosphere! Im not saying the forums im used to are all bad, but in the high testosterone environment of law enforcement and firearms, it doesnt take much before things can get snotty. Again, glad to be here, Sammy

PS: By the way Chubs, Im from Illinois originally. My dad lives in Bloomington and my grandmother lives in Mattoon with relatives scattered from Chicago to Rantoul.

Well, we're glad you're here w/ us sammy! This is a warm place- made up of real folks. Neighbors.

I was born and raised in tiny Hopedale- about 20 minutes from Bloomington. After high school moved to Chicago. After several years, moved to New Orleans, then Seattle, then 13 years in Alaska. Returned to Bloomington a short time back to be near aging parents. Miss AK but am happy to be back near family after being gone so long...

I've hung out (and still do) at a few other foodie forums. I like them all- but they're all different. I do have to say that this one is the most friendly, though- by far. I enjoy the heck out of it... and hope you will too.
