    Default Gill

I see gill measurements in some olde tyme
recipes and mentioned in history as a rum
ration. When we visited the maritime museum
in Victoria, B.C. Mrs W bought me a copper
gill measure in their gift shop.

    A gill measures 4 ounces.

You mean all the time I thought all those British Sailors were getting a good "buzz-on" they were actually only getting 4 oz of rum?
