Default Apple sub with Zucchini

I had heard of this but not sure if this works not daring enough to try yet

When making and apple pie if you run out of apple you can subsitute the apple with Zucchini???

wy not? here's one:

4-5 cups zucchini (using small zucchinis, slice in half lengthwise in 1/4 in slices; boil for 5 min.

Mix:
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon- I prefer more
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg- I prefer more
1/4 teaspoon allspice- I prefer more
1 1/2 teaspoon cream tartar
2 or 3 Tablespoons cornstarch
pinch salt

Pour over drained zucchini, mix well. Turn into a pie shell, cover with top crust. Bake in 400 degree oven for 10 minutes. Turn oven down to 350 degrees for 20 minutes

Whoa! I had never heard of this.
It actually sounds a bit frightening to me.
But if Mama Mangia says & she has a recipe I bet it would turn out good.

thank you for the compliment - but remember - we all have different tastes - and what one likes - another may not - and that is understandable
