I always make my own. I'm more creative with chip dips than veggie dips though. With veggies I tend to go with the standard ranch/sour cream. With chips I have a ton of great recipes. It doesn't take too long and they are yummy.

not too long ago i made a new dip that was really good, and it made a ton!
8 oz sour cream 8 oz mayo 1 sm can mexican corn (with the red & green peppers) 2 c. grated cheese chopped green onion 1 can of drained rotel tomatoes
