Heya from Germany...a military fam.
Hey to everyone! My name is Nastassia and my husband, awesome 4 year old boy and I live in Germany. We are a US Army family. My husban is a lifer and i left the Army just after our son was born. We are both Iraq vets. We have been living in Germany for over 6 years and love it, but we are ready to get back to the USA for a new duty station. Well to the cooking! I started to cook loads when i became a Mommy, just over 4 years ago! My husban and i were living the fast Army life and eating on the go and at the military chow halls. Am so happy our life style gave me the opertuinity to stay at home with my child and cook wonderful meals for my fam, more my husband..lol. He works so hard and he is so greatful to come home to great meals he couldnt get anywhere else. Both of us grew up with Mothers that COOKED! I was born and grew up in the great state of Texas, with a Mama that culd cook with anything and make it with love. My husban grew up on the country side in England, with a Mum that could find food to cook with in the feild, woods and cook it with heart! So with that said it was a must that i become a stay at home Mommy and learn to cook my heart out. I love to learn new things! tHANKS FOR LETTING ME JOIN!

Hello Natassia and welcome to our forum. We are happy to have you join us. I would also like to say thank you to you and your husband for your service in our military. It is an honor to have you with us.
My name is Janie and I live in Kentucky so I am all about southern food. Our moderator Mama has taught me some fantastic Italian recipes that I love.

I echo the others: thank you and your husband for your service to this country. I have worked with service men and women for the past 3 years and never let them leave my presence without saying thanks. God bless you and your family many times over.
I had a cooking mother, too. There were eight of us (and 20 or so neighborhood children). I still don't know how Mom did it. We didn't have a lot and lived off the land but that woman could whip up a meal fit for company in what seemed like a matter of minutes. I guess that's one of the reasons why the kitchen is my favorite room in the house. Sometimes my head hurts from all the possibilities food presents.
Looking forward to the sharing. What kind of ingredients are there in Germany that we would not find readily in the states and how have you managed to incorporate them into some of your dishes?
