This makes enough for two pizzas actually.
Ingredients: * 2 15oz. cans of tomato sauce * 1/4 cup of oregano * 1 teaspoon of dried mined onion * 1 teaspoon basil * 1 teaspoon dried red pepper flakes * 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic Directions: * Simmer for a while so all the flavors infuse into the sauce. I think I let it sit on the stove for about an hour or hour and a half. I always taste what I cook several times before deciding it's finished, too. I turned the burner off when we started warming the oven and pizza stone and set it aside for a bit knowing that it was just going to cook a little more anyway while the pizza baked. |

I agree, I like to let things with fresh ingredients cook as long as possible. Especially for something like this. I use a similar sauce for my spaghetti sauce and I usually let it sit for a good.... three or four hours? The meat gets so tender and it too lends itself to the sauce after a while.
I hope you like the sauce as much as we did. : ) |
