Definitely have to try them all!!
I put this together the other day and topped my hot dogs with it: Heat olive oil and a pat of butter in heavy pan, add ground meat (I used ground chuck), and fry until just about done - drain; add minced onion, garlic, salt, pepper, parsley, paprika, chili powder and fennel. Add diced tomatoes - drained; simmer. During the last 5 minutes of cooking add a can of drained and rinsed kidney beans. Serve over beef dogs, on split French bread, top with shredded extra sharp Cheddar and enjoy! You can also slice your dogs and add to beef as it is frying and serve as a "loose meat" sammie! Another secret - try frying your dogs in the same pan at the same time when frying beef burgers! What an added taste! |

My father in law gets in the kitchen and adds this and that to his sauce.
Its not pretty... I went down there once and he had made salad with iceburg lettuce, radishes and store bought fat free orange dressing WHICH he topped with canned mackeral. BLEH! Another time he made mackeral cakes with mixed veggies added into them before he fried them. I always dread hearing the words..you have to try this from him lol. His hotdog sauce had ground beef, bbq sauce, steak sauce, ketchup and other things I was afraid to ask about lol. Now you know why I do the cooking most of the time. |
