Yup KYH all the time~
Yup KYH all the time~
Cathy - you forgot to tell the rest of the story -
the cops didn't arrest anyone because they thoroughly enjoyed the homemade doughnuts that were plentiful! At first one of the Spice Place Girls thought the cops were foaming at the mouth - but it was just the white creme filling and confectioners' sugar from some of the doughnuts!
Eight of the 12 cops that showed up filled out vacation day and comp day forms to attend the next party! This time at Mama's its a LUAU! Since I wanted to roast a pig in a pit in the yard - these kind doughnut filled cops offered their services to do the digging! Everyone is going to learn the hula and it's grass skirt heaven! Mu mu's for the frumpies! And every one gets a lei! Lei not lay! LOL
And the following week - it's KYH's house! We think you need a good dose of wild parties and loonies! LOL The theme for that one - 50's SOCK HOP!
Doo wap music!
Sh-boom - sh-boom!!!!
The week after that - jglass's house - for some good old fashioned DISCO! Pull out the polyesters!
LOL
Ain't no doo-wop at my house, Baby.
A little progressive jazz and some low down blues will do it, though. In other words, KY's Juke Joint!!!
I know one thing MamaM & KYH at least we KNOW how to live and live well and throw some great "shin-digs" in the process!
I could just envision those cops OMG that was hysterical Mama!!! All looking like they got the rabies or somethin' worse
And a Luau with a Roasted Pig my Gosh I would think I'd died and gone to heaven, have not had that in like (well I was 14 I'm 51 now!) And I have never forgotten it, makes me want to go out a buy a pig! Which reminds me where I used to live there was a pig at the animal shelter that someone got tired of, don't ya' know I was sorely tempted to adopt his fat a**well it was just a passing thought, but he looked just perfect for the pit!!!
KYH I have not heard the term "Juke Joint" in like 4-ever, kind of makes me wanna' put on my dancin' shoes!!! I'll bet ya' $100. bucks you like Stevie Ray Vaughn?
Love good music, and good friends; thankyou both for the smiles this morning!!!
You only live once! I am not a "party-animal" but I do know how to have a good (and clean) great time!
A good pig roast is always nice to have. And right along side of it - a 55-gallon drum (new) all sealed up top and bottom and then cut in half lengthwise and placed on stable legs, filled with charcoal, covered with grates and loaded wth chicken and ribs!
Spread out those salads and sides - pull the foil-wrapped taters out of the coals, line up the grilled corn on the cob and enjoy!
And there is nothing wrong with doo wap music - it also includes hits by the Platters, etc. and many wonderful one-hit wonders that we still enjoy today.
(wait'll jglass finds out the disco party is at their house! LOL)
Here here Mama, I stand right beside you on that, I never have been a party-animal, but I do know how to have a good time and host a great party, or get-together! As I am certain you do too! It is fun to plan, co-ordinate and get it off the ground. I love the food prep. that goes into it!!!
All good stuff indeed, and all the great memories afterwardsMay we have many more!
My fav. memory of all is my neice (she was 8 at the time) eating my homemade pumpkin pie at a Christmas get-together I hosted every yr. she sat right at the table and polished off all but 1 slice of pie from the whole pie!!! Her eyes were smiling and the excitemnt on her face when I said "have all you want" and she DID!!! I will never forget that, and that is what it's all about: making others happy!!! I'd rather have 1 person eat the whole thing and enjoy the heck out of it, rather that 2 or 3 picky eaters taste a few nibbles and throw the rest outLittle does she know how that made my evening that night!!! I think I am going to go write her a letter right now and tell her so!!! She is a lousy teenager now

You sound like me - I don't care for picky eaters! I believe in FEEDING and making sure you EAT! No one comes to my house to pick anyway - they know damn well they are going to eat and that is that! They can diet the next day - if they don't take leftovers home!
The greatest compliment is everything being devoured!
Makes Mama happy!
By the way Mama, Doo-wop music is like my all time favorite! Do you remeber the movie "Bronx Tale" (1993 movie) well I just had to order the sound track to that movie, the ultimate best songs were on that sound track!
Do you remember the song "For Your Precious Love" sung by: Jerry Butler? It's on that CD it is like one of my top 10's!!!
P.S. Robert De Niro is like my all time fav. actor, love that guy!!!
Hey - do you remember Sukiyaki by Kei Sacamoto (sp)? One hit wonder!
I've got a lot of ddo-wap music - including for your precious love! I've got the platters, all of Elvis the pelvis (LOL), Connie Francis, Patti Page - all those old time singers! Even some old Pat Boone with his cute little white shoes!
And Bill Hayley and the Comets, the Shirelles, Little Anthony and the Imperials, Little Stevie Wonder, James Brown, etc. etc. etc.
From there it was Motown, then the British Invasion, and then God only knows what happened to music for quite some time!
I do not remember Sukiyaki, but my fiance does, if I hear it of-course then I may just remember it! Yes I love all the ones you've mentioned!
