CanMan when I read this my heart goes out to you, it also makes me sad, Calif. is such a beautiful state all in all and I yet despised it, the people ruin it!!!! I was there when the Rodney King verdict came down and it was literally hell on earth, I just feel for you that you're stuck in that environment.

I ususally by my fish frozen these days for the same reason. I can usually find some good deals on frozen seafood. It's better than none at all.

Frozen fish ain't bad at all.

For years up north I enjoyed fresh catch during the summer- salmon, trout, arctic char, hali, cod, clams... then froze excess for use all winter long. YUM!

Lobster Tails ~ My ultra favorite, then Red Snapper, Halibut with herb butter sauce, crab legs, shrimp (coconut, scampi, cocktail, and barbecued), cod, blue fish (ever go blue fishing ~ what an experience), orange roughy, and Stuffed Clams. Can't stand salmon, tried many times and just don't like it.

I grew up in NJ, and our seafood was fresh and priced very reasonable, I grew up crabbing down by Sea Side Park and Neptune NJ. We had fresh seafood weekly in our home, our whole family loved it. Sadly, here in AZ everything is frozen or put on ice and flown in ~ I miss the fresh seafood, anytime I am in California (San Diego) I go to Pacifica Del Mar ~ awesome fresh seafood, the restaurant is on the pier. Their Red Snapper is to die for~ that good!!!!!!

I Love Shrimp to.. and cold Crab salad at china buffets. I always buy frozen. I know you get into places like Florida and California and you get Fresh!! They really do have the Best!! Any where there is an Ocean and you get the best!! I Love tuna steaks or even just tuna in places near water and it even taste better. Maybe it's just the atmosphere. Warm weather sun, water, sand and some white wine... Yummy!!!! Cookie
