I make soft serve "ice cream" using nothing more than fresh fruit and water.
Use bananas as a base for any flavored "ice cream." 3 bananas, sliced 3 handfuls of blueberries Place in freezer on a tray/plate 1-2 hours. Put frozen fruit in a blender with just enough water to mix things up. Makes approximately 1 pint of "ice cream." I have also used mangos or strawberries instead of blueberries. I may even try it with a persimmon tomorrow! Be creative! If you are having a cookout this can be made up a day or two in advanced, placed in small containers and kept in the freezer until you need it. I haven't tried it in cones but because there is no fat in this "ice cream" it melts pretty fast. I would think small bowls would keep things from becoming too messy. |
