    Default Sour Cream Donuts

    Ingredients:

    1 egg
    Sugar
    1/2 C buttermilk
    5 Tbls. regular milk
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    4 C flour, approximatelyl
    Oil for deep frying

    Directions:

Beat the egg and gradually beat in one cup of sugar.

Stir in the sour cream, buttermilk and regular milk. Sift the salt, baking soda and nutmeg with two cups of the flour and stir into the sour cream mixture.
Add enough additional flour to make a soft dough that can just be handled.
Roll out on a floured board and cut with donut cutter. Fry a few at a time, in the oil heated to 370 degrees, turning often. Drain on paper towels. Roll doughnuts in sugar.

    Yield: About three dozen
