    HONEY CANDY RECIPE

    1 cup plain or chunky peanut butter
    1 cup instant dry milk
    1 cup honey
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla

    Mix together.
    shape into balls.
    refrigerate
    app~ 24 balls

    CIVIL WAR MILK PIE RECIPE
    (updated)

    Unbaked pie shell
    1 cup white sugar
    Milk
    1/4 cup flour Butter
    1/4 tsp. salt
    Cinnamon or nutmeg (optional)

    Mix the dry ingredients lightly
    Pour Whole milk over the dry ingredients.
    Adding a little at a time until
    ingredients resemble thick pudding.
    Mix well and pour into shell.
    Dot the top with butter,

    Bake for 15 minutes at 400 degrees then
    Turn oven down to 350 and continue baking
    an additional 35 - 40 minutes.

    Top should be slightly browned.

    KENTUCKY PUDDING RECIPE
    Recipe from 1903



    One cup of molasses
    1 cup new milk
    1 cup chopped suet
    1 cup raisins
    1 cup currants
    2½ cups flour
    1 teaspoon baking powder

    Mix well,
    put in bag and steam 2 hours.
    Serve with rich sauce, flavored with brandy.

    Very Old Recipe for Small Layer Cake

    1/3 cup butter
    1 cup granulated sugar
    1-1/2 cups sifted flour
    2 teaspoons Magic Baking Powder
    1/2 cup milk
    2 eggs, beaten

    Cream butter and sugar, add beaten eggs, beat together till light. Sift the flour and baking powder together and add to the creamed ingredients, adding milk
    as you go along mixing. Mix till smooth. Put in two small buttered and floured layer cake pans and bake in moderate oven for 15 minutes

    Mama, I like the candy and the cake recipe. Gonna try them. Here is an oldie I grew up with. These things were hard as rocks, but tasty. You could carry them in your pocket all day and never get a crumb. CF

    1873 Tea Cakes
    Little Mama Bradshaw

    1 cup of butter = ½ pound
    2 cups sugar
    3 eggs beaten lightly
    6 table spoon buttermilk
    1 scant teaspoon soda
    ½ teaspoon cinnamon (ground)
    ½ teaspoon nutmeg (ground)
    ¼ teaspoon cardamom (ground)
    5 cups flour

    Preheat oven to 400 deg….
    Mix butter and sugar until light. Add eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamom. Mix soda with buttermilk and add to mixture. Add flour small amount at a time.
    May be rolled out or dropped by teaspoon full. Bake in quick oven about 10 min. or until just brown. Makes about 91/2 doz.
