Creamy Linguine With Shrimp and Veggies

Ingredients

6 quarts water
1 teaspoon salt, divided
8 ounces uncooked linguine
3 cups small broccoli florets
1 1/2 tablespoons butter
1 cup chopped onions
8 ounces sliced mushrooms
2 garlic cloves, minced
12 ounces peeled and deveined medium shrimp
1 julienne-cut carrots
3/4 cup fat free cream cheese
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

Directions
1. Bring 6 quarts of water to a boil in a saucepan.
2. Add 1/2 teaspoon salt, and pasta, and cook 5 minutes.
3. Add broccoli, cook for 3 minutes, or until pasta is done.
4. Drain over a bowl, reserving 1/2 cup of the pasta water.
5. Melt butter in a large frying pan over medium-high heat.
6. Add onion, and mushrooms to the pan, and saute for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
7. Add garlic, and saute for 1 minute, stirring occasionally.
8. Add pasta mixture, 1/2 cup pasta water, cream cheese, and pepper to pan, and cook 3 minutes or until cheese melts, and shrimp are done, stirring occasionally.
