Ingredients:

3 C milk
Zest of 1 lemon
2 tbls. sugar
4 slices white bread, crusts removed, spread liberally with butter
1/2 C raisins
3 eggs
1 tbls. brandy
1/4 tsp. freshly grated nutmeg
1 tbls. brown sugar

Directions:

Preheat oven to 325 degrees

Heat the milk with the lemon zest and sugar in a small saucepan and when it reaches the simmering point, set it aside and let the milk and lemon combine for at least 10 minutes.

Butter a 9-inch pie dish; cut the bread slices in half and arrange them in layers in the pie dish, sprinkling the raisins between the layers.

Beat the eggs, add the brandy and pour into the milk. Pour the entire mixture over the bread and allow it to soak for 30 minutes.

Sprinkle the nutmeg and brown sugar over the top of the pudding and bake for 45 minutes until the top is golden. Serve hot from oven. This is truly English "comfort food" :):)

Hey it sounds very heavy. Just thinking how much it would add to my calories. But it's a nice and simple recipe.
