Is there a word for these types of flames?

I am seeing the words torch and jet used with lighters that have that type of "jet" flame. But I see two differnt kinds of flames and both kinda look like jets but both are different. This website lducompany.com has both kinds so I will use it to show you what I mean. Here is one type of flame liangdianup.com/inventory/505008.htm and the other type of flame looks stronger and looks like this liangdianup.com/inventory/509931.htm and then there is the type of lighter with a flame that I would call conventional that look like this liangdianup.com/inventory/505012.htm I have search all over the internet but have not been able to get a clear answer on the names of these different flames. Help?

Welcome to the SpicePlace family. I hope you'll go to the introductions forum and tell us a little something about yourself.

Those pages won't open for me, for some reason. But can I ask why it matters? A torch has limited uses in the kitchen---caremalizing creme brulee, charring peppers, a few other tasks like that---and just about any flame configuration works for them.

For culinary purposes, however, just about everybody uses the normal jet (flame is like an elongated teardrop) because 1. it's the standard tip when you buy a torch, and 2. it lets you put the flame precisely where you want it.
