Default A Chill in the Air

Don't be mad at me for pushing Fall... I swear I'm really not!

But here in the mid-west there is already an unmistakable chill in the air and all I've been able to think about for several days is a hot pot of SOUP.

My Dad & his wife called short notice and planned to drop by. So I went to the store and quick-grabbed the ingredients for one of my favorite FAST, EFFORTLESS "homemade" soups: 2 large cans chicken & dumplings, a large bag frozen stir-fry veggies, 1 deli rottiserie hen, a large box chicken broth. Open cans and box, pick meat from the chicken carcass and throw all in a pot on the stove over medium heat.

Add a crushed clove of garlic and some chopped parsley and voila- in less than one hour from pulling into the Kroger's parking lot to sitting-down at the table, I had a huge simmering pot of goodness ready to feed my company. And it was absolutely YUMMY!
