My dad was just diagnosed with diabetes and I was wondering if anyone had any tips on what to avoid ingredients to avoid and what to use when making dinner.
He is 58 years old. He comes over here to eat when he is home. He drives truck, so he is over here about 2 times a week. I know he doesn't have many healthy options out there, that is why I want to make things as healthy as possible when he is here. Thanks for any help everyone! It is greatly appreciated! |

Based on the main goals for diabetes: maintain normal blood glucose levels, optimal lipid levels and blood pressure control, your father has to avoid foods simple sugars, those high in salt and those with high glycemic index. He must also monitor his fat intake.
