    Default meringue for pie

Can I make a chocolate flavored meringue for a pie. Or does it have to be just plain ol' white? Thanks CF

it's tricky - sift the cocoa - prepare your meringue in the usual way - then fold in the cocoa - bake FAST - 300* F. for 30 minutes so it sets - if not the cocoa will break down and so will your meringue leaving you a mess
and you have to work fast with it

Thanks Mama, I can see right off, I need to stay with the plain ol' white. I am not that fast anymore. CF

you may be able to pull it off - once your meringe is done, quickly fold in the cocoa and immediately spread on the pie top - make sure your oven is at the right temp

give it a try - you may be surprised

Mama, didn't try the coco this time. But I will, I just thought it would be nice on a chocolate pie. I haven't ever seen it done before, trying to be inventive. CF
