I've eaten a lot deep fried gator but never had it raw - if it's fresh, why not?

yup, I've heard about this... and i've watched it in TV segment few years ago.

have you heard about "balot", it's an asian delicacy and are mostly sold by street vendors.

Local seafood restaurant serves fried alligator. Good and price is reasonable to boot.

I heard and I've seen it already. It's just disgusting but, they say it is really delicious. Try to imagine a half-hatched chick inside an egg and you'll cook it with boiling water. That is how the "balot" is cooked.

Huh - hate to sound like a Redneck - but right behind my house would be a good place to start.

Just curious regarding this gator meat, if it taste like chicken. Is it tender also like chicken? Or is it harder or tougher meat than chicken?

It can be kind of chewy if it's overcooked. Most places overcook it.
