Default What do you have/make for snacks

What do you have for snacks when you have friends or family over? Say when you have them over to watch something like the UFC (which usually starts around 10 p.m. Eastern Time). Something to eat that is more late night than earlier in the day??

We like to snack on healthy foods like celery sticks, carrot sticks, and cabbage, I mean cucumber sticks. We serve them with a dip like Hidden Valley ranch dressing, Bleu Cheese dressing, or French Onion dip. I feel there is too much salt and fat in potato chips, and we like fresh vegetables.

There is always the traditional cheese/crackers tray and veggie/dips tray that can be made ahead of time and refrigerated until company arrives. They can snack on that until I get the "hot" finger foods out - wings, tenders, party meatballs, potato skins, pizza, etc. And always a fresh fruit tray along side the desserts.

I usually just have cheese/crackers. Either that or I have deviled eggs. I love those things.

I usually set out trays of goodies like a veggie platter, hummus, crackers, cheese, fruit, nuts, and maybe some summer sausage.

If I'm cooking, then I usually make soup. My family's favorite is vegetable stew and frybread.

My husband always requests Rotel dip if we have people over to watch a game or something. And I also put out Wheat Thins, grapes, yummy cheese (Havarti, etc.).

Sometimes, I'll make a big pot of gumbo or red beans and rice.

Thanks for the ideas everyone. I always tend to make things so complicated for myself. I'm usually running around...what should I make, what should I make. Hubby is always like ... CHILL OUT! haha. I always forget about the simple things like you've all mentioned.

I usually try to get fruit and vegetable trays. If I make dip I get baked chips or I get wheat thins. My husbands favorite is velvetta with chili or velvetta and rotel tomatoes.
