Default New Year's Dinners

What is everyone cooking for their New Years Eve, or New Years Day celebrations? We are going to a party tonight, so I am not cooking anything tonight. New Years day I am throwing some pork and sauerkraut in the slow cooker, and making some mashed potatoes, and rolls to go with it. I've always heard it is good to have pork on New Year's Day, what have you all heard?
My new years resolution is to cook more from scratch, and cook healthier. Of course I think anything you cook from scratch is much healthier than anything pre-packaged. So hopefully I will stick to that!
Have a wonderful New Years!

nothing special. it's just going to be another day around here so I'm not even planning a meal yet. I'm a little distracted trying to plan a first birthday party when the number of guests keep getting larger and larger.

I've always heard it's good luck to eat black eye peas on new year's day.

I made some home made chili and cheddar cheese bread. I can't wait to dig in. We were going to have some friends over but the baby has a fever so I thought it would be best to keep it only in the family, I will probable end up getting it next.

I always heard the daying about the black eyed peas as well. lol I have never ate any, though.

In my family some do Oyster stew on new years. i have not had any in probably 5 years though.

Well, we are having a late dinner. Hubby said when he got off work he would come home and cook me dinner to make up for having to work today.

I think about 11pm we will be having steak. lol

Well in our house we are just having appetizers. My children have friends over for the night so it was much easier to just do finger foods and chicken wings. As well it will be easier to clean up.

Just like Christmas, we had smoked ham, some mashed potatoes and lots and lots of fruits. My mom also baked a cake so we had that too, plus green salad.

looks like today (NYD) was last night's leftovers for hubby, homemade nachos for me and green beans and jello for the baby. *shrug* what can I say, I wasn't in the mood to cook lunch.

dinner will probably be something equally exciting since hubby has gone off to watch football with some friends and it's just me and Jack for the evening.

We didn't have any parties or other plans for NYE so we decided to go out to dinner. We had some delicious fajitas and chips with fire roasted salsa. And of course a margarita.

Yum! I will have fajitas and margaritas any day! Mexican is my favorite. We have a really good Mexican restaurant in our area called El Sombrero. They use tons of cilantro in their food. I tried to talk my husband into going there New Year's day, but no dice. Hopefully soon, I got a gift card for there for Christmas. I need to use it and get my salsa fix.

My mom went to my aunts house.

They had blackeyed peas, cornbread and hog jowls. (did I spell that right?)

They say it is lucky food to eat on New Years.
