Default How many recipes do you know by heart?

I am actually not really good in cooking, I know some recipes by heart because I do them frequently and also because I don't have much recipes to cook because I don't really think they are easy to do. And so, to sum it all up I just know three recipes. All of which are chicken recipes including fried chicken.

I have a few that I know by heart. Homemade Macaroni and Cheese, Swedish Meatballs, and Slop.

most of what I cook on a regular basis is done from memory. I don't like to measure all that much, so when I cook meals it's usually a little of this, a little of that.

Medako, my husband is like that. I guess since he cooks the most he just does it however he wants. Sometimes he will add something different and others he goes by the recipe that he remembers.

I don't know if my dishes are ever the same twice.

That is what makes it good is when you never cook it them same. It gives you a different taste each time.

The problem with me is that I usually add a pinch of this a bit of that, so that when I try to give a recipe out I can't give exact measurements or quantities. Some I do know by heart, though.

Not nearly enough. I'm a big cook-by-the-book sort of person unfortunately and so I rarely do things from memory. I'm trying to get better about that, though.

I need to get that book "How to Cook without a Book" because that is something I seriously need to learn to do.

Although it does seem a bit ironic to read a book to learn how NOT to use a book, no?

I don't cook much from memory. Old habits die hard, I suppose.

Well, when I was in the service they taught us not to memorize torque specs (how much to tighten a bolt) and look them up before tightening. It seems the same goes for cooking.

When I cook from memory I often leave things out and the resulting meal isn't necessarily what I was planning on. So I get out my favorite recipes and follow them so my trusted dinners come out as I expect.
