Default What do you take for lunch?

I am tired of sandwiches and leftovers for lunch. What do you take for lunches to work besides these two foods?

well - during the summer months (I had access to a fridge at work) I would take cottage cheese and fruit or yogurt - something cool on a hot day and not too heavy - there are so many kinds of salads that you can take - veggie, fruit, etc. - leftover hamburgers or meatloaf (or chili) can be turned into a burrito/taco or used for a taco salad - jello salads and a flour tortilla filled with something - meats, veggies, anything!

make your own lunchables with some crackers and cheeses/deli meats (and if you want a juice box and a mini candy bar or cookies you can have it - just teasing)

I always found that fresh fruits, veggies and salads with some cheeses and olives or pickles made a satisfying lunch without giving me that "heavy" feeling and it was healthy eating as well.

I usually eat a cheap tv dinner, like the Banquet ones that are 88 cents apiece..I know they are full of sodium, so I watch my salt intake for the rest of the day and have a decent dinner.

I don't take a lunch anywhere since I stay home, but...

yogurts, fruits, and salads are always nice when it's hot, just about anything can be rolled into a tortilla for a quick wrap, baked potatoes can be reheated pretty easily and the toppings for those are obviously endless.

Hehe, this is about ALL I pack for lunch. As I was saying in another thread, occasionally I will break it up with a Lean Cuisine if I am pressed for time. I actually love to do leftovers at lunch. Saves money and helps us eat the food I've made, and DH doesn't like leftovers as much as I do so this keeps us from eating them for dinner as often.

isn't it Healthy Choice that is trying to cut down the sodium and preservatives in their heat & eat meals? I guess that would be a decent choice if you needed a frozen meal once in a while. Then again, it's probably still cheaper and better to freeze leftovers or make a dish specific for lunches.

Well, they're all relatively high in sodium. I try not to eat more than 1-2 a week and more often it's none. I agree frozen leftovers are better and just as convenient. I just don't always think to freeze my leftovers in portion sizes.

I eat out a couple times a week because I want variety in my diet. I know how to cook healthy, yet on some nights I'm tired to I slack off. So going to a healthy place for lunch treats me fine. I do take lunch in to work too -- don't get me wrong. But that's left overs from the nights me or my wife cook well.
