I don't think I ever cooked for a crowed, it freaks me out. Maybe a dish here and there. I think the most I ever cooked at a sit down dinner I kid you not is 4 people. Or a supper dish for 8 people. I make side dishes when were grilling for people but not the whole SH Bang! Being a professional cook your used to cooking for a Big Crowed!
It's cool to go out and get food for one. No dishes or shopping to do. He-He Cookie |

Cookie, many folks don't have a lot of confidence when it comes to cooking for a large crowd. But the best way to get over that is just to do it! Ha! Anyone who can cook for 1- can cook for 4. And anyone who can cook for 4- can cook for 20! It seems weird- and there are many things you learn along the way that help you next time... But it really is that simple- as freaky as it seems!
My first-ever lessons in volume cooking were way back when I was young. Several summers I went to stay w/ my Aunt and Uncle who had a farm. My Aunt Bonnie was a fantastic country cook. She and my Uncle raised their own livestock and always grew their own huge gardens- not to mention fruit trees, berrie-patches, grape-vines, etc. Bonnie had 8 daughters so cooking for her immediate family was a skillful chore, anyway! But often a car-load of relatives would pull into their lane Sunday mornings and in no time flat she had Sunday dinner for 10- turned into Sunday FEAST for 20! Before the unannounced guests made it outta the car and up to the front porch- she'd send one daughter to the cellar for another quart of put-up string-beans- another to the back porch for a larger basket of apples- a 3rd daughter to the garage to grab another cut-up fryer from the chest-freezer, and by the time they all returned she'd have another 3-4 lbs. of potatoes peeled, and another yellow cake in the oven, and a couple more loaves of bread-dough rising in a bowl on back of the stove! Aunt Bonnie was a miracle-worker, and a helluva cook! Last edited by chubbyalaskagriz; 08-22-2008 at 07:50 PM. |

I love doing buffet style! There is no way you can screw the whole thing up ha-ha. In less your that bad of a cook. Family and friends can bring a dish to which really can help out.
I thought that was your fella to! To funny lol. Cookie |
