Default salisbury steak

Well tonight i tried something new and made salisbury steak, with mash potatoes, and corn on the cob. It was interesting but I felt like exploring a little bit. Is there something else anyone can think of that goes with salisbury steak, for next time options?

Maybe a rice pilaf?? Or maybe some couscous?? There are many things you can do with rice and couscous!

I second the couscous. We love it! It's kind of like eating mashed potatoes too only in pasta form. : ) My favorite couscous so far has been parmesan couscous.

I love Salisbury steaks. We almost always have Mashed potatoes with it for the simple fact that we take the gravy from the steak and use it on the potatoes. Stouffers (spelling?) has really good Salisbury Steak family dinners (comes like 6 to a box).

I like the Near East Herbed Chicken, & Tomato Lentil couscous. I really like the Mediterranean Curry flavor, but my wife won't touch it.

Couscous is so simple to make, and takes no time either.

I've mistakenly bought the rice pilaf instead of couscous at the store. For some reason they mix them together on the shelf. But I've learned now.

Have you ever tried garlic mashed potatoes? It's a nice change from the standard fare. Start by just making regular mashed potatoes, and then add 1/2 tsp of chopped garlic. I like to use the prepared chopped garlic because it seems to blend into food better. Whip the garlic in and taste. Add more to your taste. 1 - 1 1/2 tsp of chopped garlic seems the right amount for the couple pounds of potatoes I make. But start with the lower amount of garlic so you don't over-season the mashed potatoes.

You know i have never bought couscous. I have heard it is good. I think I will get some next time I go to the store. I love salisbury steak. I have never made it from scratch but I have had the frozen ones.

Salisbury Steak is one of those dishes that my mom use to make from scratch for us while we were growing up but have never made it myself. Don't really know why I have not made it but have not. I do remember that we always had mashed potatoes with our salisbury steak and used the gravy on the mashed potatoes.
