Default Taco Salad

I've got a craving for taco salad, the homemade kind not from a resturant (to my DH dismay, since he loves Mexican)

I normally just brown up some ground turkey/beef some mexican seasoning. Top the nacho chips w/meat, cheese, lettuce, salsa. I sever guacamole and sour cream on the side.

Anyone got any different takes on plain old taco salad?

TIA

I like to use the taco salad shells that you can get at the store. Pop them in the oven for a few minutes, then load all the ingredients. I like lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, sour cream, salsa, refried beans, taco meat, a little ranch, and maybe a little quacamole. So unhealthy, but oh so good.

I am all about black beans lately. Ooh and mushrooms and sauteed onions too.

To change things up a bit, I layered my large sheet pan with the nacho chip then add the meat & cheese and popped them into the oven to melt the cheese good. Then we just added the other toppings of our choose and I used some black beans and they were delish.

You can take ordinary flour tortillas and put them in individual oven proof casserole/ramekins and bake them for a few minutes to make the shells for your taco salad. I like to cook some lean ground beef with taco seasoning. Put the taco seasoned beef in the cooked shells then add finely chopped lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. Add some grated cheese and your favorite salsa or taco sauce. Server sour cream and guacamole on the side.

I'm pretty plain with mine. Chips, taco meat, lettuce/tomato, cheese, guacamole, sour cream. Sometimes beans. I love black beans.

Yeah, I like it too. It's funny, my sister-in-law loves Guacamole, but is alergic to it. She can eat a little bit, but if she eats too much, her lips swell up.

My husband refuses to eat it. I tell him I'm revoking his Texan license.

It seems that guacamole is an acquired taste. It wasn't until about a year ago that I begin to enjoy eating guacamole. It has to be really good guacamole, thick and kinda chunky. I now even enjoy eating the avocado just chopped up added to a mixed salad.
