Ooh, a topic I can really get into!

Here is the menu for a dessert party we had last Christmas season:

Cinnamon-pecan bar cookies
Cherry pom pom cookies
Chocolate shortbread cookies with frosting
White chocolate Chex mix
Peppermint bark
Cheesecake with blueberry topping (topping has port in it, YUM)
Bread pudding with bourbon sauce
Hungarian torte (pastry layered with nuts and jam w/ meringue on top)
Dark chocolate/orange cake
Trifle
Fruit with whipped cream
Coffee
Hot mulled cider

I'm so simple I love cheese cake the very most, also white cake and buttercream frosting, also i don't know what they are called but you cut a tortilla into 4 peices and deep fry them for about 45 sec or till the get hard and crisp then you put butter on them with cinnamon and powdered sugar. Mmmmm those are so yummy I had those last night.

::sigh: As they say desert's the best part of the meal. LOL

I don't have a favourite because I enjoy so many. Could be ice cream (Oreo Cookies 'N Cream's my fave ice cream, as well as Blueberry Cheesecake Swirl), or a piece of lemon pie or lemon tarts (I love lemony things). Strawberry shortcake I just love! Things that have gooey chocolatey goodness. I could go on forever but I'll be posting some recipes that I find particularly delicious.

Ice cream is a great fast dessert! Dress it up! Crush cookies (Lorna Doone, chocolate chip, macaroons, Oreo's, etc) and layer in parfait glasses with ice cream and fresh fruit. Top with cool whip or whipped cream.

You can do the same thing with instant pudding.

Make a quickie using instant pudding and graham cracker or cookie crust for an instant pie. Use banana cream pudding with sliced bananas lining the crust. Stir in chocolate chips for vanilla or chocolate pudding. Add drained fruit cocktail to pistachio pudding. Garnish to "fancy up" with chopped nuts, whipped cream, cool whip, etc.

No time to bake - use a frozen pound cake (or make several and freeze for future use). Thaw, cut into cubes, layer with fruit, pudding, whipped cream or cool whip to make trifle.

Slice an angel food cake in half or thirds horizontally and fill each layer with fruit, canned pineapple, pudding, whipped cream, etc.

These are desserts that can be made in minutes and enjoyed.

I like pound cake with ice cream. Or dump cake with ice cream. Peach cobbler is really good also. And I love all kinds of cheesecake. I have never made my own cheesecake though. Bought a springform pan and it has sat in the cabinet for four years now. Sad.. lol

Speaking of ice cream. I just tried that Blue Bell flavor called Dos Amigos. It is like a dutch chocolate marbled into Mexican vanilla ice cream. It almost tastes like it has a hint of cinnamon...not sure though.
