The folks that I know that are vegan say they've never had trouble finding vegan food while traveling. I'm not so sure about that. Our librarian and I took a vegetarian friend to a Vietnamese pho soup place, and the only vegetarian thing they had was the pho noodles and hot water. Not much of a lunch, and we felt bad.

Where are you going? Or where will you be passing through? Sometimes it's so hard to find healthy treats let alone vegetarian or vegan! I have noticed that more and more convenience stores are starting to carry things like fresh fruit though. Have you ever heard of a company called Just Tomatoes? We love to buy the dehydrated strawberries they have. And now the company has more dehydrated foods and as their name suggests, each food is ONLY that food. No added ingredients anywhere. I keep meaning to buy my own dehydrater to do that.

Most major grocery stores now carry vegan food. They have the vegan sausages and breakfast foods at least. If you cant find it I would ask a manager. The Walmart superstores have some vegan foods for sure. I have seen them there.

Yeah, I would probably stop at grocery stores to get items to eat. As someone who is one a restricted diet (no dairy or soy products), I don't expect others to go out of their way to accomodate me, i just make do with what's available somewhere and then eat my own meal later if there's not something appropriate available at the time. I'm sure those who are vegan would be understanding.

Personally, I would ask ahead of time for his suggestions on how to stop for food so it's enjoyable for everyone. I'm sure he's used to working out these situations, so he probably has some ready ideas and would appreciate being consulted.
Also, I would think cafeterias would be good choices. There is a lot of variety there and he should be able to choose some appropriate items. And if you plan to pack some food to take along (which has the added bonus of being a money-saver), then you can control the available food even more. |

I found a website where you can buy vegan or organic foods online. It looks like a nice website! Here is the link http://www.wellnessgrocer.com/index.php. I hope this helps someone.

I would definitely have him pack a cooler and use grocery stores as much as possible. Maybe check out the websites of some popular fast food joints and see if anything fits his needs- maybe some of the salads are safe? I think packing a supply of fruits, veggies, pasta salads, veggies dogs, etc, would probably be the best and safest bet.

I've never heard of anyone having trouble finding vegan foods. A lot of grocery stores have them now & even a lot of restaraunts have that kind of food. You'd have to go to a sit-down restaraunt. I don't think McDonalds would be what you're looking for.

I would order a vegetable sandwich or a meatless/dairyless salad, always works for me.
