Recipe: French Toast Casserole
Ingredients in French Toast Casserole
- 1 loaf firm bread
- 8 ounces cream cheese
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 10 eggs
- 1 ˝ cups half and half
- 8 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- cinnamon sugar (optional)
To Make French Toast Casserole
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Cube bread and layer half of it in 13 x 9 inch baking pan.
- Cube cream cheese and sprinkle over bread.
- Add remaining bread cubes.
- Mix together eggs, maple syrup, half and half, melted butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, and pure vanilla extract.
- Mix all ingredients well.
- Pour ingredients over bread.
- Press down so bread absorbs the liquid.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight.
- In the morning, sprinkle with cinnamon sugar (if desired).
- Bake 40-45 minutes at 350°.
- Serve with syrup or jam.
