Recipe: Fresh Apple Cake



 

Recipes using Tones Cinnamon, Ground

 

  • 3 cup raw apples
  • 1 1/2 cups canola oil
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts


Glaze
  • 1 1/2 cups sifted powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp water
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  1. Peel apples, grate or chop and set aside.
  2. Pour the canola oil into a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add sugar and eggs and beat well.
  4. Sift together flour, salt, soda, baking powder, and ground cinnamon.
  5. Gradually add flour mixture to oil, sugar, and egg mixture.
  6. Add vanilla, then fold in the apples and nuts.
  7. Bake in a well-greased bundt or tube type pan. Bake at 350° F for 1 to 1 1/2 hours or until deep golden brown.
  8. Cool completely before removing from pan.
  9. Drizzle glaze over top of cake, allowing it to run down the sides of the cake. If glaze is too stiff, add a bit more water to mixture and stir well.
