Recipe: Macaroni Hamburg Casserole
- 1/4 lb macaroni
- 1 1/2 qt boiling water
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1/4 tsp granulated onion
- 1 green or red pepper, chopped
- 1/2 lb lean ground beef
- 2 tbsps flour
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1 pt canned tomatoes
- 1/2 cup grated cheese
- buttered bread crumbs
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Cook macaroni in boiling salted water until tender; drain.
- Melt butter.
- Add onion, pepper and lean ground beef.
- When meat is brown, add flour, sugar and tomatoes.
- Cook 5 minutes.
- Add macaroni and cheese.
- Season.
- Place in greased casserole and top with buttered bread crumbs.
- Bake 25 minutes.
