Recipe: Meat-Za-Pie
- 1 lb lean ground beef, lean
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1/2 cup unseasoned dry bread crumbs
- 1/3 cup non-fat dry milk
- 2/3 cup water
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 2 or 3 slices Ceddar cheese cut in strips or pieces
- 1/4 to 1/2 tsp dried sweet basil leaves
- 2 tbsp Parmesan cheese, grated
Preheat oven to 400° F. Place beef, salt, crumbs and milk in 9 inch pie pan. Add water and mix together with fork. Spread mixture evenly over bottom of pan, raising a rim about a half inch high around side of pan. Spread tomato sauce over meat mixture. Arrange cheese strips in criss-cross pattern over top. Sprinkle with basil or oregano and Parmesan cheese. Bake in oven about 20 minutes or until cheese is melted and beef cooked. Cut in wedges to serve. Serves 5 to 6.
