Recipe: Popcorn Balls
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1 tsp vinegar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 5 quarts popped popcorn
- Butter a 3 quart saucepan. Add sugar, water, salt, corn syrup, and vinegar.
- Cook, stirring constantly, over high heat until softball stage.
- Stir in vanilla extract.
- Place popcorn in a large pot. Pour sugar mixture over to popcorn, stir gently to mix.
- Allow to cool to touch, then generously butter hands and shape popcorn into balls.
- Place prepared balls onto waxed paper and allow to sit until sugar hardens.
