Recipe: Poppy Seed Bread
- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 2 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1 1/2 cup canola oil
- 2-3 tbsp poppy seeds
- 3 eggs
- 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 tsp almond extract
- Preheat oven to 350° F.
- Combine all ingredients (except baking powder) and mix for 3 minutes at medium speed.
- Add baking powder, and mix for 30 seconds more.
- Pour into 2 greased loaf pans or 1 greased bundt pan.
- Bake for 1 hour.
- Glaze while still hot with glaze listed below.
Glaze
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 2 tsp melted butter
- 1./2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp almond extract
- Combine all ingredients and spread over Poppy Bread while still hot so that sugar will melt.
