Recipe: Russian Spiced Tea
- 2 oranges (medium size)
- 2 lemons
- 1 tsp whole cloves
- 1 tsp whole allspice
- 1 or 2 cinnamon sticks
- 5 tea bags
- 2 cups sugar, or to taste
- Squeeze juice from oranges and lemons; strain and save juice about one cup.
- Simmer the rinds and spices in 2 qts of water for 30 mins.
- Meanwhile make tea in 1 qt of water.
- When the spicy mixture has simmered 30 mins. combine it with the tea, juice and sugar.
- Keep on very low heat until the flavors blend.
- Remove the rinds and spices before serving piping hot.
