Recipe: Scalloped Potatoes with Ham and Cheese

Recipes using Tones White Pepper, Ground

• 1/2 cup chopped onion
• 1/4 cup butter or margarine
• 1/4 cup flour
• 1/2 tsp dry mustard
• 1/2 tsp salt
• dash of pepper
• 2 1/4 cups milk
• 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
• 4 cups thinly sliced pared potatoes
• 2 cups ham, cut in large chunks

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Cook onion in butter in large saucepan until tender.
3. Blend in flour, mustard, salt and pepper.
4. Gradually add milk; cook over medium heat until sauce thickens, stirring so it won't stick.
5. Stir in cheese.
6. Save a little cheese to sprinkle over top.
7. Arrange potatoes in greased baking dish, 12X8X2 inches.
8. Top with ham, pour sauce over all.
9. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
10. Uncover, sprinkle with grated cheese and bake 15 minutes longer or until cheese is melted well and browned a little.
