Recipe: Spaghetti Pie
- 6 oz spaghetti
- 2 tbsps butter or margarine
- 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 well beaten eggs
- 1 cup cottage cheese (8 oz)
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1/2 cup onion, chopped
- 1/4 cup green or red pepper, chopped
- 1 cup (8 oz can) tomatoes, cut up
- 6 oz can tomato paste
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp dried oregano, crushed
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese
Preheat oven to 350° F. Cook spaghetti according to package directions - should have about 3 cups. Stir butter or margarine into spaghetti. Stir in Parmesan cheese and eggs. Form spaghetti mixture into a "crust" in a buttered 10" pie plate. Spread cottage cheese over spaghetti crust. In skillet cook ground beef, onion, and pepper until vegetables are tender and meat is browned. Drain; stir in undrained tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, oregano, and garlic powder; heat through. Turn meat mixture into spaghetti crust. Bake, uncovered, in 350° F oven for 20 minutes. Sprinkle Mozzarella cheese on top. Bake 5 minutes longer or until cheese melts. Cut into wedges. 6 servings.
