Recipe: Spiced Baked Pears

Recipes using McCormick Whole Cloves

• 4 pears, seckels
• 1/4 cups sugar
• 1 tsp grated orange rind
• 1/2 cup pineapple juice
• 2 tbsp lemon juice
• Whole cloves

1. Peel, cut in half, and core 4 pears, preferably Seckels, and arrange the halves in a shallow baking dish.
2. Sprinkle the pears with 1/4 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon grated orange rind.
3. Pour over them 1/2 cup pineapple juice and 2 tablespoons lemon juice and add a few whole cloves.
4. Bake the pears, covered, in a moderate oven (350° F.), basting them twice during the cooking, for about 30 minutes, or until they are tender.
