Recipe: Steak In A Bag



 

Recipes using McCormick Season*All Seasoned Salt

 

  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 2 to 3 pound top sirloin steak, cut 2 1/2" thick
  • 4 tbsp butter, softened
  • 4 tbsp canola oil
  • 1 tsp chopped garlic
  • 2 tsp Season*All seasoned salt
  • 2 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese (about 4 ounces)
  1. Remove excess fat from steak.
  2. In a small bowl mix butter, canola oil, chopped garlic, Season*All seasoned salt, and ground black pepper until blended.
  3. Spread on all sides of steak.
  4. Mix bread crumbs and cheese.
  5. Press into butter mixture on steak, coating steak well.
  6. Place steak in a brown paper grocery bag.
  7. Fold end over and secure with staples or diaper pins.
  8. At this point may be refrigerated several hours.
  9. Before cooking bring steak to room temperature.
  10. Preheat oven to 375° F.
  11. Place bag on a rimmed baking sheet and bake 30 minutes.
  12. For medium-rare steak increase oven temperature to 425° F. and bake 15 minutes longer, a total of 45 minutes.
  13. For medium-well steak, reduce heat from 425° F. to 375° F. and bake 5 minutes longer before removing from oven, a total of 50 minutes.
  14. Remove steak from bag.
  15. Let stand 5 minutes before carving into thin slices.

Makes 4 to 6 servings.
