Recipe: Swedish Meatballs

Swedish Meatballs Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/2 pound ground pork
  • 1 1/4 cup cream
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 tbsp chopped onion
  • 1/2 tsp basil leaves
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp all purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cup scalded light cream

To make Swedish Meatballs

  1. Soak bread crumbs in 1 1/4 cup cream until moist.
  2. Combine bread crumbs, meat, chopped onion, pepper, cloves, and pinch of allspice. Mix well.
  3. Shaped meat mixture into small balls about 3/4 in size, and place in large skillet.
  4. Add 1 cup water to pan, heat to boil, cover, and simmer until done, 15-20 minutes
  5. Sprinkle flour over meatballs, and stir.
  6. Stir in light cream.
