Recipe: Sweet and Sour Meat Balls
- 5 slices bread, dried
- 2 lbs lean ground beef
- 1/2 cup grated onion
- 1/2 tsp garlic salt, coarse ground
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 eggs, lightly beaten
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
- Cut bread in cubes and soak in water.
- Mix together all other ingredients.
- Move bread cubes from water and squeeze water out and mix with meat mixture.
- Shape into balls.
- Put on cookie sheet.
- Bake for 15 to 18 minutes.
Sauce
- 1 cup tomatoes
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup vinegar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp grated onion
- 10 gingersnaps, crushed
- Mix together all ingredients.
- Cook to boiling.
- Add meat balls, simmer 10 minutes.
