Recipe: Waldorf Astoria Red Cake

Recipes using Hershey's Cocoa, Unsweetened

• 1/2 cup butter or margarine
• 1 1/2 cup sugar
• 2 eggs
• 1 tsp salt
• 2 1/2 cups flour
• 1 cup buttermilk
• 1 tsp cocoa powder
• 1 tsp baking soda
• 1 tbsp vinegar
• 2 ounces red food coloring

1. Make paste of cocoa, baking soda, and vinegar. Cream butter and sugar.
2. Add eggs and beat again.
3. Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk.
4. Mix in the cocoa paste and red food coloring.
5. Bake at 350° F. for 35 minutes in a 9x12" pan which has been greased and lightly floured.
