No rain. storm just turned East and left us high and dry.
Many fires are burning in Texas. One just started yesterday about 10 miles from us. I don't see any danger at present for us. Lots of smoke and smoke smell in the air. It has however cooled off some. The cooler mornings are very welcome...
I know y'all are tired of hearing about our weather. But this is serious stuff. We have 100 year old trees dieing from lack of rain. Our annual rain fall average is 48", this year so far 3.5". So I am praying this storm will bring some rain. You will see higher meat prices because cattle are...
Not really, just a retired farmer. We set our onion plants in December or January. For fresh harvest with tops in May. Dry onions harvest in June or July, Depending on weather. Here is one of our onion fields. CF:)

Made more onion rolls today. Having them with tonights dinner. Baked chicken, corn on the cob, and collard greens. Pear pie for desert. These rolls are so good. I have already eaten three of them. I just wanted to make sure they were OK. CF:)...
Nice cool morning 71.4°. Almost like fall. But things will change here in a little while. For the high today 101°. But rain is forecast by the end of the week. Yeah, right.

Nice email from the staff of SP. I truly hope people...
Today being Friday I am thinking fish. Maybe an oven fry style (got a new recipe) Fried is better I know. Might even oven bake the fries. Don't have any crusty bread, wish I did. Will be having fried pies for desert. Janie recipe its good. CF:)
I would of thought that the little rain would of cooled us just a bit. Didn't happen 101.4° as we speak.
Made Janie's fried pies today, came out pretty good. (my option) Bill

Janie, made the fried pies, not as pretty as yours but sure were tasty. I will be trying again. I used sweet potato filling, just because we like sweet potatoes. CF:)

Looking at the Home page, I see widgets and categories listed. But I can't find the forum page for them.
We need a listing for them all in the forum area. I wanted to post something about preserves but did not find a place. Any thoughts? CF:)
Thinking about the blog, where is everybody? I see...
Well Mama, I pressed a few buttons today and baked a cake. Dang that brought back a lot of memories. Not to sweet just right. Very easy to make, But be sure and grease your loaf pan. I forgot that step, but did get it out OK. I had to much going on at the same time. Was cooking some chicken...
Mama, is right, where the heck is everybody? Come on, get out of the heat, enjoy your computer and your friends. We are missing you.
Life is good, food is better, need recipes and photos. CF:)
I really don't know if a cobbler is a pie or a cake. I think it might be a combo of each. Anyway I made one, it was enjoyed by all. Thought you might like it to. I haven't a clue as to where the recipe came from, maybe this forum. either way it is a very good and simple recipe. CF:)
Easy...
I sure hope there has been a mistake made about the weather.
Calling for 107° today and still no rain. Y'all this is serious business. I don't know how much longer we can afford to keep out plants alive. The water bill is running around $500.00 mo. We have so much invested in our yard plants...
Duncan Heinz, Flan or tart pans. Anybody use these? I am seeing some pretty nice recipes that call for this pan. I have not ever used them. What kind is best? CF:)
