Cluttered table??

Is there such a thing as a table that's too empty or too cluttered?

My table has napkins, salt & pepper on a lazy susan. My mother in laws has so many candles and flowers and stuff that #1 there's no where to put your plate, silverware & glass #2 it's just not fun dining because you cant even see the people you're trying to have dinner with.

How do you do it???

I don't keep anything on my table except a center piece. And when I have people over it comes off so we can see each other

Well...... We don't eat at the table usually, because my husband put the computer on the table instead of the computer desk, and put the TV on the computer desk. He's such a goober. And now he won't let me switch things around so I can't fix it until we move to another house which will be sometime in February or March, maybe earlier.

But I do remember my grandma's table... She had a teapot on a cozy in the center which she moved for dinner or weekend breakfast. She would usually put the food in the middle of the table so we could get seconds if we wanted them.

I dont have anything on my kitchen table except for a tablecloth and a center piece. I also take it off when it time to eat and then I put it back on the table.

Nothing is on my kitchen table other than two plastic Sesame Street placemats because my kids would tear anything else up or ruin it.

My husband is always complaining about the mail and stuff on our table. I try to keep it uncluttered because I know it bothers him, but sometimes stuff just has to have a place to sit for awhile!

Our formal dining table has just a centerpiece and we don't use it a lot, so nothing much gets put on it.

I am with you there....things just always seem to accumulate on my table too :(

hmm...right now, the table has the kiddo's laundry & his highchair tray.

As for what stays on the table, nothing. I try to avoid making it into a clutter catcher because once I start, it'd be packed full of stuff and not leave any room to eat.

Very true...I need to make that my new years resolution and be better about it

I typically don't have anything on the table except for a candle, but it does get cluttered up with mail, kids coloring books, etc.

All I keep on the dining table is a huge glass bowl that is usually filled with some kind of fruit so the kids to grab as a snack during the day. But I do have the problem of family walking by and setting things on the table, which they "forget" to put away. And lots of activity takes place on the table like card games, art projects etc. so sometimes the accumulation of clutter gets out of hand. It's very annoying but I'm relieved to see ya'll have the same problem, too.

I have a big stainless steel work table in the middle of my kitchen that I use for most of my food prep. People also gather round it and visit or have a snack or whatever. But the rule is that it stays clear and clean - if you eat there, clean up immediately so I always have a clear space to cook. My family is very good about this. I wish I could figure out why because maybe I could use it to make them clean up the rest of their messes!

Exactly on both accounts; with the mail clutter.
I can get into real trouble if I throw anything away
without her blessing.

If I don't clean the kitchen it becomes a pit.
